Children in Care
Children in care often face unique challenges—multiple transitions, feelings of loss, and uncertainty about where they belong. Play therapy offers them a safe and nurturing space to process their experiences, build trust, and express what may be hard to put into words.

Through play, children can begin to make sense of their story, develop healthy coping strategies, and strengthen their sense of identity and resilience. I work alongside caregivers, social workers, and families to support the child’s emotional wellbeing, helping them feel seen, heard, and valued as they grow.
My Story
I began my experience working with Children in Care (CIC) and their families as I worked as a Caregiver in Group Homes. The purpose of the group homes that I worked for was to help children as young as 5-6 to 13 that have difficultly in home situation like foster homes. I was and I a still am very grateful for my experiences and the many lessons I learned from little ones. It was during this time that I became motivated to look to working clinically with children and youth in the future.

My next significant experience working with CICs was as a Guardianship Services Social Worker with a Delegated Service Agency. I was able work closely with the Ministry of Children and Family Development, many Provincial Resources, a cultural practices.

As I transitioned into clinical practice I was able to draw upon my experience working with children, families, agencies to dedicate a majority of my practice in working with children and children in care.
